This is a work of fiction originally written by me,every name, character or place used here are product of my imagination, any resemblance of these work is coincidental.
In his usual manner,Emeka hummed Phil Collins' 'paradise' while as he showered as was his regular thing. few minutes later he was out and already set for work,he had his breakfast, kissed Nnenna goodbye and drove off to work.
This has been his routine every morning for the past five years,he was thankful to have met a woman as good as Nnenna. Before he woke up every morning, his wife had already prepared and packed his lunch for him and by the time he came out to the dinning, breakfast was ready. Every meal with nnenna was a sure feast from omlettes and plantains to egg sauce and yam in egg barter for breakfast and a host of both Continental and African dishes that Emeka could not get enough of.
Nnenna would be described as a perfect chef, she was just too much in culinary activities which Emeka's friends presumed that was the reason he had married her under three months of their meeting not minding the fact that Nnenna is a very beautiful dark woman who is in her late 20's. She is what most men would describe as the way African women should be,she was created on the best days because you could see her beauty even from afar with her very curvy figure especially with a back side that tempt men to woo her even with their idea of her marital status. She was almost the complete woman with a good man as a husband.
As Emeka arrived the office, there was coldness in the voice of everyone he greeted,he just waved it and felt maybe the harmattan had gotten a better toll on them, then he went straight to his office dropped his briefcase and headed to greet his boss who seemed so dazed over something Emeka could not place a finger on. 'Good morning sir' he greeted more like talking to himself because his boss was far away in thoughts,he had to come close and greet like three times more before his boss shuddered back in a manner that suggested he was running wild with thoughts. The boss turned to him and ''Mr Emeka Ezeani,am so sorry your services here will not be needed anymore as the company can no longer afford your high prices, you are one of the best around that is why am so confused as to who to hire when you are gone. the MD has refused to see reasons with me and has asked that you tender your resignation letter by month end''.. Emeka couldn't believe his ears,a company he had worked with since he left school,he worked for one year and married before he met his heartrob,Nnenna.
When he got home that day he couldn't bring himself to believe that in two weeks, he would be out of job, how is he going to cope since he is the one taking care of his parents and seeing his siblings through school. What about Nnenna,he was so confused, the house and the car belonged to the company. He then decide to keep it to himself till he found a solution even if its a trade that he would start with his little saving while in the course of his job hunts, from that moment he began to submit applications for different kinds of job even the ones he was over qualified for.
Since the company had given him three months grace to vacate the staff quarters and return the car,he would have found an alternative by then and this would certainly not be one his night mares he assured himself..
